My Story
Hi, I’m Marcus Hayes, and I’m the founder of DishThread.

I didn’t start out dreaming of running a recipe site — I just loved food that brought people together. I grew up in Atlanta, in a house where every Sunday meant music, laughter, and a big pot of something simmering on the stove. My grandmother could feed a dozen people with whatever was in the pantry, and I learned that great cooking is less about rules and more about rhythm.
Years later, between a hectic job and constant travel, I found myself living on takeout and hotel snacks. Cooking felt like a lost art — until one quiet evening, I decided to change that. I started writing down quick, flavorful meals I could actually make after work. That little notebook turned into DishThread — a space for people who want food that’s comforting, creative, and completely doable.
This blog isn’t about chasing trends or fancy plating. It’s about real food for real life — meals that taste incredible, use what you’ve got, and remind you that the kitchen can still feel like home.
Meet the Team
DishThread isn’t just me anymore. I’m lucky to work with two amazing people who bring their own flavor and style to everything we do.
Naomi Clarke – Recipe Developer & Home Cook at Heart

Naomi grew up on the coast of Maine, where fresh seafood and seasonal cooking shaped her approach to food. She’s our master of effortless dinners — the one who can turn five ingredients into something you’ll crave all week.
Her recipes are practical, comforting, and always just a little surprising. When she’s not cooking, she’s kayaking or hosting impromptu dinner parties with whatever’s in her fridge.
Andre Lewis – Dessert & Photography Lead

Andre is the creative force behind DishThread’s desserts and photography. Born in New Orleans, he inherited his sweet tooth (and his patience) from his pastry-chef mother. His no-bake desserts are indulgent yet simple — the kind that make you feel like a pro baker without breaking a sweat.
He also shoots most of our photos, capturing the real textures, crumbs, and colors that make food feel alive.
What We Believe
| Value | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Simplicity | Food doesn’t need to be complicated to be special. |
| Flavor First | Every bite should make you want another. |
| Flexibility | Cook with what you have, not what you “should” have. |
| Connection | Recipes are stories we pass around the table. |
| Joy | Cooking should be fun — mess and all. |
DishThread is built on real ingredients, quick wins, and a healthy dose of trial and error. Some dishes turn out perfect, others become stories worth retelling — and that’s what makes it all worth it.
The Journey Ahead
What started as one guy’s kitchen experiment has turned into a growing community of home cooks, food lovers, and curious beginners who just want to make great food without the fuss. Every message, photo, and recipe remake keeps me inspired to keep cooking — and to keep sharing.
We’re proudly part of CreativeGrid LLC, a collective that helps food creators and storytellers bring their passion to life online. Their team takes care of the behind-the-scenes tech so we can stay focused on what we love most — cooking, writing, and connecting with you.
So whether you’re here for a quick weeknight meal, a new air-fryer idea, or a no-bake treat to end the day — welcome.
I’m truly glad you found us.
Now grab a plate… dinner’s almost ready.
— Marcus Hayes
